Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle, these names are synonymous with Philosophy and the pursuit of knowledge. They are of course, just three of the greatest of the many ancient Philosophers of Ancient Greece. The Greeks of Paul’s day were very interested in knowledge and trying to find the meaning of life. In the Book of Acts we find an amazing story of Paul’s visit to the city of Athens and his encounter with some Epicurean and Stoic philosophers of the day. In this sermon we examine Paul’s visit to Athens and how he interacted and attempted to share his faith with the people of this great city of culture, art, and knowledge. In our modern culture that is also obsessed with the pursuit of knowledge and the meaning of life, we Christians can learn much from the Apostle Paul and how he attempted to share his faith with the philosophers of his day.
